Like the title says, I don't want to sump the tank but the stock gas tank sending unit is pretty tiny on its feed line. I know some guys have hacked a stock unit to fit a 1/2" line but that's a pain. Anybody know if someone makes a sending unit with 1/2" line for a '67 Chevelle?

Thanks, Arnie.

Thanks, Mic! That should work!

Brian, a fuel cell just doesn't seem practical for this car. It's mostly street, a little strip, so I need a fuel gage that works, plus a cell just wouldn't look sleeper enough. Thanks for the idea tho.

Agreed for a more street car probably not a good idea. Granted I drive mine on the street but only to the track:D

And it does have a fuel gauge, hooks right up to the stock gauge super easy to wire up.

did it solve your fuel starvation problem?
I went from stock tank/sock(which was black and couldnt be seen through)/lines(3/8ths)/ holley 110mech pump too....

Sumped cell/8AN line/ holley volumax(170+gph) mech pump.

So far its running alot better pulled to 6500 tried to run up to 7K but I let out of it. Granted this was rolling into it in 3rd at about 35-40 and the tires just broke free. I am hoping to find out tomorrow at the TNT.

Nice! I've been following your fuel prob post and think I need to do the same. I've got a 69 that started life as a 307. Now a 461, with the stock tank and pickup. I seem to be running out at 5000. I can't imagine what the 40 yr old sock must look like.

Looks good, I'm running a holley blue electric and 3/8's from the pump forward. My problem is the tank to the pump. I think the cell will be the way to go. Thanks.

Moneypit, I used ROBBMC PERFORMANCE 1/2 inch sending unit along with #8an line to a carter 172 gph mech. pump and #8an line to the carb. It feeds my thirsty 496 just fine. The gas tank looks all stock, no fuel cell, no sump.

Well, I got my RobbMc Performance sending unit for my '67 and got it installed. It really is a nice piece, I got it with -8 AN fittings, makes the stocker look pretty pathetic. I looked around their site some more, looks like pretty nice stuff. I called them, turns out it's owned by a couple of ex-Mallory engineers who took what they learned at Mallory and improved on it for their own product line. I noticed they had some nice adjustable pressure mechanical fuel pumps for Pontiacs and Olds and other engines, but not Chevy big block. What the? I asked Robb, he said there's just not room below the cylinder head for the adjuster. The pressure regulator they sell looks pretty clever, too.

Anyway, you guys with early cars, this sending unit group purchase rebate deal looks good:

If 25 of us buy these things by the end of the month, we'll each get rebate checks for $37.25! 2 of us have already bought one. I checked into it a little, they've done this before, one time 40 guys on a Pontiac forum got a 25% rebate checks on pumps they bought! Guess that's what RobbMc does for advertising. Are there 23 more guys out there that can use this?

I was planning on ordering one this month. I will get on it. Do we just tell them we heard about it on TC, etc., to get added to the list for the month and possible rebate?
