This is my first car that i am gonna build so its a giant learning proccess for me. I was wondering if someone could help me with the code on the rearend. This is the code stamped on the rear end cga 04 1b2, Is this the code that i need to find out what gears are in this thing. The other code stamped on it is 3969277nf. Thanks.

3969277nf is the casting number of a 10 bolt.

CGA = 2.56 ratio non-posi

04 1 is an assembly date code, but should be 4 digits in 1970
04 = April
_1 = day of month

B = Buffalo assembly plant, 2 = shift?

This is a 1970 Chevelle 10 bolt with 2.56 gears. There should be a casting date on the rear of the center section on one of the axle tube webs.
