If you had a strong motor that wasn't going to fail otherwise in normal loaded operation at any RPM, would that motor be any more prone to damage revving it with no load? My BB's new flywheel/clutch revs lots quicker than the old flexplate/converter. It's kinda fun to give it a zing now and then, idle to 5 or 6K in a split second, and quickly back down.

-> Am I going to mess something up doing that?

-> Can I do stuff like rev it and hold it at 4 or 5K to look for engine vibes?

- > I would like to see if my Digital-6 rev limiter set at 6200 really works. Can I rev it up there (like I do on all my rental cars:D)?

You could just the digital 6 down to 2k and check if it works:thumbsup:

If all the digital 6 internal circuits truly, truly are digital, that works. I thought of that, but on some acceleration runs, I swear I was hitting a rev limiter around 5400, but told myself it was carburetion cuz a digital device can't be off....

So can I rev it way up there to see? I am actually kinda skeered to do it, that's a lot of anger under the hood. Scattershield: check.

I would not rev the motor like that just to hear it but every time we go to the limiter on the line it is reved unloaded for stick cars. I was told many years ago that it was not a good idea to free rev the eng it was not good for it and I just followed that advise, just like I was told not to touch a hot stove. Kind of like do you feel lucky:D.......well do you

Mike- I apologize. Your post was clear, I twisted it cuz I thought it was funny. But I didn't put a smiley. My error. As always, I appreciate your insight and input.
