alright i ripped out my old voltage regulator because it goes all the way to 17v when driving and around 12-13v when stopped

so now i put in a new voltage regulator, 9 bucks

looking back at my old regulator - i see this black thingy hanging - know what that is and if i need it?



its at around 14-15 volts with that on and without it on.

Alan. The "cylinder thingy" is a capacitor and will not harm your setup, provided it is in good working order. It helps keeping voltage spikes down (suppresses interference on the radio). I would advise you to mount it.

alright - i will mount that. do you happen to know a part number for that so i can get a new one?
