Now for the dumb question. I can't get the rotor off. Usually I pulled them off. This one has two small screws on the side but I don't know if thats whats holding them on or if I unscrew them some part underneath is going to fall off and I won't see how it came apart to get it back together again. Should I putting some more muscle into pulling it off or is the screws after all? This is a Mallory distributor.

Is it HEI style? On an HEI there are two screws that hold the rotor down. Can you get a pic?

NM, It was the screws. I was able to stick my finger under there and hold it inplace. Once i lossed both th rotor lossened up so I figured thats what was holding it down.

Mallory is an HEI. Yes loosen the 2 screws. They won't come completely out of the rotor which is nice, you won't loose the screws.
