I have a 69 Chevelle Malibu Convertible and am interested in converting the original Drum Brakes to Disc Brakes. I am not sure the best kit to buy or if I need to get a power booster set, or just a manual conversion kit.
I am relatively new at mechanics and so I would probably just get someone to install for me , but my question is which will perform better. I was talking to a guy at yearone today and he told me the manual kit was around 700, and the power booster kit was around 900 is it worth the extra 200 bucks?

First off, Welcome Clay.
As long as you don't have a large cam that limits you engine vacuum, The power set up is best. Power brakes allow a lot more braking force with less foot effort.
Don't get me wrong, The manual disc will be a vast improvement over your drums. It's just that the power will be that much more.

I'm sure that Year One sells a good product, but they're not exactly the cheapest vendor. If you shop around a bit, you should be able to find a good power brake kit for $500-600 or so. Search this forum, and you'll find a lot of tips.

IMO, the booster is a good investment. It won't really give you better brakes, but will make a tremendous difference in pedal pressure.
