how do you know it's wrong? if it's just a matter of what it reads, then make your own "full" mark with a chisel after you change the oil next time..
the stick and tube should still be available from GM for not too much money... it's going to be for a 454 truck application and might not look "correct" if you are into the numbers matching thing, but it will fit and it will read correctly...

Are y'all talking about dipsticks or "dipsticks"? One is used to indicate the oil level the other is going to tell you what it should be.
I will try to get you a measurement today, I have plenty of them, all factory 396 from Chevelles .

Dipstick is 22" and tube is 21 1/2" .
1/2" sticking out, dipstick measurement include the part that slides onto tube.
That also includes 70, 71 and a chrome after market, also 69, 71 454.

Just make sure you get one from 1990 and back..91 and up is different.

No problem, cheated on the 71 454, just measured the stick, it was installed.
Good luck, just note please, on repos or after market the tubes sometimes require bending to get them correct . Worst case is retainer bracket mis-welded.
