I thought I'd post a picture of this, I know that they mention it in this month's Chevy Punch. But, I thought I'd post a pic. Pretty simple, just an angle iron with two hole's drilled into it, and a notch, so the socket will fit to the pinion nut. It hold's the pinion in place while torquing the nut.
I got it at the local hardware store, for about 5.00 bucks. The one in the chevy punch mag, was a little to overkill, I thought for the weekend warrior. This did all that I needed, especially helpful, when resetting the pinion pre-load several times, getting the right pattern.
It also hold's the rear in place quite well, while you're working on it.
