My 10-Bolt Non-Posi differential bit the dust (haven't opened up yet, but seems that the pinion gear broke in half). I would like to simply replace the ring/pinion gear, but want to make sure this problem doesn't happen again. What types of things should I be looking at for problems (especially on the carrier unit) that could have caused this problem? Please keep in mind that this differential was totally rebuilt about 4 years ago and has only 20K miles on it! Any suggestions would be appreciated...Thanks, Tom

Wow, breaking a pinion gear in half is a tough thing to do. Once you get it apart, maybe you'll find broken spider gears instead. Easy to find, cheap to buy and easy to replace. Good luck, let us know what you find.
