I've heard a few people here say the sbc pulleys won't work on a bbc.

I built a bbc back in the spring and reused the pulleys off the sbc. This is the crank pulley, water pump pulley, alternator pulley, power steering pulley.

I've not driven the car much since the install but so far I've not had any problems.

I just want to hear from the experts why this is said to not be able to be done? Perhaps there's something I'm missing?

Dawg,

On the single groove short style pulleys I have noticed they are very similar if not the same. Long style multiple groove seems to be differant.
