Rebuilding the heater and AC Box today on my 69 chevelle. The foam gasket on my defroster door has expired completely. I went the the local home center and purchased some self adhesive PVC foam 1-1/4" x 3/16 weatherstripping. I got the Idea from this forum. I stuck some on a piece of metal and put it in the oven at 150 degrees to simulate the defrost heat. The weatherstripping got soft and when touched lost it's thickness permanently. Please help with advise on best type of material to gasket my defroster door and best method to attach. Thanks for the help.

Im not going to say what i fill but 150 in the oven sorry but you heat will be doing around 80-95 degrees plus the trim you put on there just acts as a seal that keeps air from coming in when you switch from Air to heat just put the stuff you got on there and go with it you don't have to test it like it going to not be enough it will get the job done but putting it at a temperature of 150 degrees that just i think is way pass what GM or you can expect and foam weather stripping to handle after 30 minutes of constant temp especially with a stove
