i'm getting ready to put the dash back into my 68. i noticed there are four different bulb #'s. i have found 1816, 257, 1895, 1891.

should there be different #'s?
what is correct?
what goes were?
can i use brighter bulbs?

i want to get it back together soon (before next weekend) for the power tour though joliet and effingham.

mild68ss, for your '68:

1895 (2 candle power) = general instrument illumination lamps; temperature, oil pressure, generator, high-beam, brake alarm and directional indicators; glove box.

1893 (2 CP) = radio dial lamp.

1445 (1 CP) = heater or A/C control panel.

1816, 257 and 1891 are not listed as original # lamps. Yes, you can use brighter bulbs---get ones with the correct voltage and pin style---but they probably will not last as long.
