When the lights are turned on, I loose the ground on insturment cluster. It actually picks up a positive. I assumed I had a short, but after some research I wanted to make sure I had a good ground. I removed the dash and did not find any type off ground strap or wire. Where does the dash make its ground connection? Thanks David

There is a metal strap that goes from the dash cluster to the headlight switch bracket. A wire goes from the headlight switch bracket to the ground point (screw) by the parking brake.

Thanks. I've got the strap from cluster to switch but not from switch to parking brake. I'll just wire one in. Also I got some good pictures of your car Saturday. Your photo album was neat. The second owner lived in same city as many of my relatives. Fredricca st. was a big cruise area years ago. Small world? David.

The screw above the wiper switch makes the ground. This is a pic of the back side of a 68 cluster. However a wire from the metal back to the parking brake won't hurt.

Man I can't believe I didn't see that. There were a few screws missing and of course that was one of them. Thanks. David

Since we are talking clusters, Has any one had a problem with the metal clips coming out of the plastic sockets on the cluster wires. Can you get new sockets and wire ends? My wiring looks good and new harnesses are expensive. Thanks. David.

i just used some por putty the thick por 15 put some in the holes where the clips go pressed them back on let it dry seems to hold good
