whats up with this???????? is this really gonna happen?? i feel sorry for dana white!! all the money hes got cant help his ass. whats this about anyway?...........what started it??
Dana was Ortiz manager and good friend way back in the day, prior to him and some boxing promoter investment buddies (Dana was a boxing promoter prior to managing Ortiz) and taking over UFC when it was in trouble financially and losing ground. Upon takiong over the UFC and agreeing to do promotion he had to drop Ortiz. Handed him off to a lawyer buddy for a manager because its illegal for a promoter to manage a fighter since managers negotiate with promoters for payment / purse of a fight. The lawyer friend, who knew nothing about managing a fighter, cost Ortiz money, missed fight opportunities, etc. Ortiz kind of blamed Dana for the hand off to a poor manager with no experience AT ALL and was talking trash publicly about Dana (even though Dana never made a dime off of Ortiz while he managed him) and that in turn PO'd Dana. Dana was irritated / offended by the trash talking, Ortiz felt as though he was "left out to dry" and did not get the respect or recognition he deserved when he was handed off and AFTER Dana took over the UFC promotion stuff.

And there you have it. I been a UFC watcher forever and I am fairly addicted to it.

1bad,
This was supposed to be just a boxing match, not MMA. I think Tito would win in either way, boxing or MMA. Dana was getting gassed after training sessions and hanging on the ropes.

Cdude,
White used to be around boxing and trained a bit, but never competed. In this show, he trained for a six week period to get in shape for the fight. He went from 230#s(?) to mid 190#s.

What a waste of time this show was! Considering the fight didn't (and most likely won't ever) happen, it didn't need to be aired. It was as if Dana wanted to make Tito look bad in a cheap way.

Dana White did compete in boxing, he apparently was quite a good amature, and was hovering around going pro (though likely never very good pro), but he did compete.

The fight wont happen, the Nevada commity were already against it early on, and seemed pretty clear they werent happy about it. Its too bad cause the idea was neat.

maybe tito was afraid that his image would be destroyed in a boxing match were he got hit a couple good times and couldnt resort to a takedown!! i like the guy after he coached the ultimate fighter show.........nice guy but ya cant talk trash and not show!! whats up with that?

the way i see it is that if tito didn't knock out dana, dana won either way. there is no way dana should even remotely hang with tito. ever here of a strikers chance? i personally respect tito's skill but would have liked to see him served up a slice of humble pie. mike

I actually watched that whole thing under the impression that a fight was going to occur. That was the most disappointing 90 minutes of television since Geraldo opened Capones vault.
