Hello everyone,
I am interested in installing a Autosound radio with the modern features. But has the original look. Also install dash & rear speaker. There seems to be quite a number of classic radios to select from. Interested in hearing what you guys have installed and are happy with.

At the low end of guality sound and too much for what you get. You can get a non looking, but so what, 1 Din name brand stereo head with all the bells and whistles for a $100 with 200w and great sound, or put it in your glove box and use the remote. The original is a 1 din as well.

I have one in my 65. I had to file the opening in my dash to get it to go in. I called Autosound and asked them why doesn't it fit? They told me It will fit into stock instrument bezel but not the reproduction ones, which I have. Go figure. It is only a so so stereo.

I went with Retrosound partially based on bad reviews about Custom Autosound. My first Retrosound did develop a problem right before the warranty ran out, but they were fantastic about replacing it for me. New one just turned three, zero issue.

I have a custom auto sound in my ‘69 with the Bluetooth kit. The bluetooth is terrible and half the time can’t stream audio or phone calls through the bluetooth. I like the looks and sound quality is pretty good as long as you go through the settings and enable the proper features. If I could do it again though I would
Go Retrosound.

I put a Custom Autosound Model 740 in my '65 El Camino. Looks good and fits great, even in the aftermarket bezel. Bluetooth to my phone works great. It drives "Kicker KS" door speakers and "Custom Autosound Undercover 1" back wall mounted rear speakers. (I might need to add a subwoofer.) And, I can change the display color to match whatever I've got on the Dakota Digital instrument panel. Its been installed three years and I have no complaints.

My Bluetooth is good for both cars out to about 25 feet. If you are on warranty I would return it. Make sure it isn't your phone too.
I’ll have to give them a call. Originally I thought it was my phone because it was 5 years old. Got a new one and it still does it. The phone will show it’s connected but won’t stream anything. Very temperamental.

I have a Custom Autosound 740. No major complaints but the clock is very sensitive to losing its time during engine starts yet it keeps the presets in memory without fail. No problem for me - I have a GPS clock in my Dakota Digital dash.

Dont get rid of your old radio. I built a center console for my modern stereo since I have a bench and shift on the tree. I removed the plastic bottom heater vent, and made fiberglass ducts that connect to the heater and out through the small adjustable vents on the sides.

I'm of the same opinion. Custom Auto Sound is junk. The jacked me around on my stuff. Back years ago, I had a 10 disc CD player in the trunk. They told me I had the wrong cord. Ordered the cord, installed it and it still didn't work... They told me to ship it to them. Had to call them a month later and they told me it player was no good and they would sell me a replacement. No, thanks! The radio died shortly after.
I put a Retro sound in my 56 210 5 years ago, and it's fine.

I've had a couple of Retrosound models. I have Polk Audio speakers and a Polk Amp firing some of them and I think it sounds "okay". If you are into having a serious system keep your factory in dash and stash a head unit or even simply a Bluetooth amp in some other location.

What is the big deal with modifying the dash sloghtly, 1 din, to accept a good head unit. We change everything else. A lot cheaper with better performanceUnless your building a original concurs car View attachment 765735

Agreed! I’m running this turd. I’m not going to cut that Dash though. I only have 1 Cassette to play. Dazed and Confused. I’m debating a summer project of adding below it a single din with CD.
