Well, I finally picked up my CS130 alt. today, but upon closer inspection I think I've ran into a snag. The arm of the alternator that is used to keep the tension on the belt(via being tighten by the bolt) is not tapped for threads
Is this right? Or did they give me the wrong alt?

Should I just tap this myself?

I haven't seen one that wasn't tapped. Had to tap an SI up one size once due to damaged threads.

If it wasn't tapped usually it uses a thru bolt (fixed position) and used a belt tensioner (serpentine type)

I'm just going to tap it for the bolt that is on car now and pray that I don't get stranded on the side of the road because my replacement alt. isn't tapped

I have a replacement CS130 V belt alternator with threads. It's an aftermarket purchase so I have no way of knowing if the rebuilder taped it or not.

I would think they all would be taped. The only other way would be to use a longer bolt with a nut to keep it tight.
