I'm in the market to upgrade from my 10-SI alt. to a CS altenator. From looking at the archives, using the search option, it seems like the majority are "only" 105 amps. I've heard that you can get one originally designed for more output (ie higher amperage). Maybe a cop car? Has anyone found the higher output models? And if so what are the part numbers? Thx.

Yeah, higher amperage. Until the CS series overheats and craps out the rear bearing.

Remember American Graffiti? What did "CS" stand for?

Better get an Iceberg rear housing. Bigger bearing and more heat sink.

I've tossed four of these things onto my work truck, and my Lumina is on number 3.

Don't even think you can recharge a dead battery by jumping the engine and then "driving it charged". You'll fry a CS this way.

So what you are saying is that I sould stay away from any higher amperage CS alt??? Or should I just stick with my SI unit?
