Moderators, if you could leave this up as a sticky maybe for a month or so - PM me if you move it as this could hurt a company that is not closing so Crane customers here on TC need to know the truth, i am not a owner or employee of crane cams, just a customer - We have inside connections at Crane Cams and pulled strings to get some information - I want to show all of you guys the rumor that started then state the facts - here is the thread below from speedtalk.com, please do read it

http://speedtalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=114466#114466

Now here is an e-mail to me from a person very high up at Crane Cams i deal with i got this morning

We have one of the premier cam lobe designers here (David Bly) for over three decades, with new lobes produced continuously to stay on top of things. Finish ground camshafts go out daily to upper echelon teams and engine builders in all areas of motorsports. We did fall on hard times a few years ago. Since the Mikronite takeover, it's obviously taken longer to sort out than we would like, with deliveries sometimes suffering. Much new equipment is now here to increase production and make higher quality parts. Street is certainly a large part of our market, as is oval track and drag racing. The racing portion is steadily growing. We a very much in business, with a steady flow of orders arriving daily. We've been here 55 years, and intend on being around for decades to come.

Moderators, if this could be here as a sticky for a while that would be great - These are facts above in blue direct from Crane Cams, if any moderators would like the whole e mail i would be glad to send it as all of this is real actual information, not just something im posting

This rumor could steer people away from Crane Cams, The rumor is coming from a few other cam grinders that deal with Crane for camshaft cores as the 8620 {gold} cores come from Crane Cams - They are a major supplier of 8620 steel billet cores

Re: Crane Cams Closing Info/Rumor

Butch,

Thanks for the info. Although I am a Harold Brookshire cult member, we need competition in the market for higher quality products, and best bang for the buck.

My first car, a 67 Chevelle SS, true 138 vin, had a Crane Fireball cam in it. It beat a lot of cars that were "supposed" to be faster, with all of the go fast parts. They were all mismatched combos. The only street car that gave me fits, was a 70 Chevelle with Comp Cams 292 in it. Those cams just cam out then...

Unless you change the title of this thread, people who view the topic ONLY (as opposed to clicking on the thread) will assume Crane is closing, which seems contrary to your goal.

X2

That was my exact thought as I read the title.

How about "Forget what you heard, Crane Cams is NOT closing!"

I titled it:
Crane Cams closing Info/Rumor

Rumor to my knowledge would be false information

It still says "Crane Cams closing Info". That's what most people will read. most will only read the 1st few words and make an assumption. It's sad but true. I'm glad they plan on being around for at least a few more decades.

Re: Crane Cams Closing Info/Rumor

I just put a Crane Cam in my engine this spring, doing my part to keep them in business. I'm very pleased with it by the way, I don't remeber seeing/hearing a bad word about Crane Cams. Hope they stick around.

I sure wish the title was different, it sticks out like a sore thumb and a lot of people will never read the whole story.
