It should, Ron...my Craftsman dial back light does on a 6AL & MSD crank trigger.

I tried a Craftsman Dial back type when I installed my Crane ign box. It did not work. I returned it and got the MSD timing light, which worked fine. The MSD light I got was not a dial back. Didn't really need it since my damper has full timing marks.

BB 68 - Can you explain your comment further? Doesn't the one in the link have an advance feature? What is a "degree wheel," and what will it do that the advance feature on the Craftsman timing light won't do?

Ron,
It looks like that light has a "dial back" feature, that is the 0-60 degree deal they are talking about. MSD does not recommend using those types of lights with thier ignition systems. It seems that the multiple spark play havoc with them. I have seen a $300 Snap-On digital dial back light be almost 30 degrees off on an MSD setup. I would stick with a non dial back type light. I have an old Sun that works just fine.

I've found that my Craftsman dial back light reads a few degrees off when you compare the dial reading at 0* on the balancer vs. reading the balancer tape with the dial set at 0. Like 5-6*. So I just leave the dial at 0, read the tape. Seems to be the more logical spot to have a good reading.

I've wondered too. At what rpm does the multi-spark stop?

Why would the MSD be differant? The reading comes off the number 1 plug wire as any other ignition. I use a Craftsman dial back timing light in my tuning. I like it alot.

I am curious to see an intellignet and correct answer as to why MSD is differant. Multiple sparks? Did I answer my own question? Is that the reason? Max timing at 3000 - 3500 RPM should not be affected as the multiple spark function returns to normal at those RPM's.

This is a good question.

Also, why would the Craftsman light be differant than any other inductive timing light?

Thanks!

I run MDS 6AL and I have both types of Craftsman lights...an older one, and a newer dial back light. Both seem to work fine, although I have a degreed balancer so I don't use the dial back function.
