drivers side cylender bank is throwing blue smoke. a lot of it.

im doing a compression test in a day or so when i finish the car.
teh blue smoke changes with engine speed. the faster it goes, te more blue smoke. so...i was just wondering a few things it could be.

personally i think its a ring, but i want to hear what you guys think being an ameture mechanic:D

also, how much would it cost for a good set of rings?
if its a valve, for new valves and springs?

thanks a lot guys.

I once had the rings crack, they started stacking up on each other and actually breaking parts of the pistons away.
