Not necessarily. There seems to be a never-ending parade of reasons why people have removed Trim Tags....most of them pretty silly, but many people really have no clue as to the significance of the tag, or the possible implications of it being removed. Unless it's a Canadian build or one of the two SS-only paint colors, there's nothing on the Trim Tag that will confirm that the car is/was an SS anyway.

Not unless you find a build sheet (unlikely in a Baltimore-built car) or find out the owner history on the car from previous owners.

I've got my sheet from Baltimore and I've seen others but I'm a 70'.

If the engine is a big block and has the proper codes on the original block pad, it would indicate a true SS car. The engine stamped V.I.N. has to match the cars V.I.N. on the dash.
Check the front position where the head meets the block behind the alternator to see the block codes
