Did Cowl Induction hoods have factory installed insulation? I can not find any info in the Assembly Manual. I have a 1972 survivor, Canadian built that has no insulation or signs it ever had insulation. Thanks.

I suspect if there is no RPO listed then it was most likely a dealer installed option. Added later: my other thought was it could have been part of the SS package ( ie. 1967 Camaro SS option included the underhood insulation in it's package )

My 1971 Canadian built Chevelle had insulation in the cowl induction hood when I bought it in 1980. I have since replaced it.

I looked through my 70 assembly manual, it suggest it was factory installed with the L34 option. It might be the same for 71-72 not sure. I couldn't find any similar description in the 72 assembly manual. . Is your 72 a factory SS ?

Mine is an SS from factory. LS5 with cowl induction hood from factory. Survivor with original paint. I found the flat hood has insulation in my 72 Assembly Manual, nothing for cowl hood. 1972 the cowl inducted hood is option ZL2.

I found some, I just question if the factory installed insulation on 72 cowl induction hoods. Mine has none and no signs of any glue to hold it in place.
No glue is used. The individual pieces are held in place by the the frame work of the hood. It is flanged to hold them in place.
