New guy on the forum here. I have a 70 chevelle 454 ss. I can’t seem to get the flapper to open and close when driving. Opens when car is off. Closes when car turns on. No kinks anywhere. Doesn’t work with hood opened or closed. Tried it with check valve on and off and in both directions. Hooked it up to manifold failed. Hooked to carburetor and failed as well. Failed when to brake booster as well.

Pod accutator has been replaced. From what I can tell, it’s a vacuum issue. Car seems to have too much vacuum.

anyone in Arizona have experience with this ?

Sounds like it’s operating normally, when driving only opens at Wide Open Throttle which is a low vacuum condition. There’s also a electric inner door which also only opens at WOT, that one uses a electric solenoid which makes the switch against the firewall when throttle is floored.

This is an epidemic this year. Put a vacuum gauge on your engine and floor the throttle. When floored, the vacuum should read nearly 0. Check your throttle plates by pressing on the gas pedal and look down the carb throat to insure your throttle plates are opening fully, with the engine off. Make sure you are using vacuum-rated tubing so it doesn't collapse on itself.

A stock pod begins to close the door at 3hg as recently tested with a MityVac.

I wonder if the latest repop pods have too strong a spring???
