I need some help here,how in the world do you tell the difference between a real cowl air cleaner and a repop??? any help would be appreciated,thanks

if they are like any other repro part, the repros are probably thinner metal and don't fit tight on the carburetor.

On the original GM air cleaner you will notice that there is two bumps on the snorkel were the snorkel is welded to the air cleaner base. The repo's do not have these two bumps on the snorkel tube , just a smooth transition to the attachment point.

Thanks for the advice on the air cleaner,was there a first design cowl air cleaner and a later design gm?

I cant say 100% for sure myself, but I read somewhere about the lip on the lid is different also.
