It was so crowed last night, there was a line 1/4 mile long out into the street with folks trying to get in. Only got 2 runs in. I somehow fumbled the 1-2nd shift a bit on the 1st run, 2nd run I lost fuel pressure momentarily 1/2 way down the track. I think my fuel pickup got uncovered.

1st 1.89/7.90/94.00/12.00/121.49
2nd 1.96/7.83/92.75/11.97/120.38

This is with Morel hyd lifters, 170 seat/450 open, steel retainers.

Prior best with solid rollers on this cam was:

1.77/95/7.53/11.56/123.79

Considering that the prior best was run with a DA of -75, the new runs the DA was 1930...I'd have to say that the HYD rollers dont seem to be giving up too much at all. I lost 3 mph with the last motor when running the Cranes, but I also had a 4 qt oil pan and no windage tray. I have a Jegs/B&B pan now which is ALOT nicer.

I may try again when a certain fellow gets his 540 up and running and makes a couple runs himself.

Overall though, I'm pretty pleased. These lifters are within a couple of MPH of the solids despite a 1950 difference in DA and botched runs. Maybe the'll be faster all things be equal...

Sounds real promising. And yes, thank you for sharing!

I just grabbed up some 4603 morels from Chris. The spring he wants to set me up with is a double spring around 175ish at the seat also.

I was considering going with a hybrid setup with solid lifters for a minute(Im running a smaller cube big chevy and plan to turn at least 6500 eventually), but then figured I gotta try those lifters out with the luck folks are having. Seeing your results makes me feel even better yet about my decision!

We gotta work on that front half!! That is a lot of MPH for those ET's! I bet you put on a heck of a show for the crowd trying to get that thing hooked up and then running folks down! (which is always fun!)

glad you at least were able to get it out there Vince, stellar mph for those ET's. I don't think the hyd lifters have much to do with mph and if the prior runs were in negative DA then a 2000' increase should slow you down a tad anyway. The overall cam profile and operational parameters will deteremine whether the mph goes up or down. I'm going 130 at 6200 with the Morel's so you might just have to adjust the setup to accommodate a different envelope....;)

Trust me, no one wants to get back in the shop more than me and get er done. But, doc is right, would be foolish at this point to not wait it out until things stabilize.

Just tough to get a 4000lb barge moving with 28x11.5x10 along with a manual trans on an unprepped track. Really amazing that I even got into the 1.7's on occassion. Think I'd like to try running on a prepped track and be done with it - after I get the fuel sys straightened out (sump or surge tank, etc)

Ron - shift points around 5500-6000. Seems to run the same shifted anywhere around there.

Vince, I've been anxiously waiting for you post. Glad the Morel's worked out for you. Also, it was great talking to you on Friday.
