I have a 1970 Chevelle SS, in which I am in the process of replacing the door panels due to faulty weatherstriping around the top of the window. I know that the top of the new door panel fits in the grove where the window goes up and down. And that the sides use the three panel clips and plugs on each side. But how is the buttom attached, there are no mounting points on the door shell or on the new door panel from PUI, Inc. Anybody know the answer? Thanks a bunch.

If you look at the bottom of the door with the door panel removed, you will see 4/5 holes for sheet metal trim screws. The trim screws are chrome with chrome washers attached. Any auto parts store should have them.

To locate the holes in the door panels, put the screws in the door first, then install the door panel. Tap on the door panel over each screw so it makes a mark on the back, then drill a small hole for each screw. Careful not to tear vinyl with the drill bit. (I punch the hole in the vinyl with a nail set.)

With all the holes drilled, remove the screws from the door and reinstall the screws thru the door panel into the door.

Heres a pic of an original door panel with the 5 trim screws....

MY70454SS,

I'm not sure , but I believe there should only be four screws along the bottom,
not five.

I just looked at one of my original door panels, and it only has four screw holes along the bottom.

Hope this helps.
Good luck with your new doorpanels! :)

To avoid any confusion, some doors got 4 screws, and some got 5 screws in the door panels. This is why I told him to locate the holes already in the doors. If his doors have 4 holes, then his would get 4 screws, if his doors have 5 holes, he would have 5 screws. :clonk:

So in other words, screw whatever holes you find. Leave no hole unscrewed.....thats my new motto. ;)
