Hey Guys
here is a situation where 10 heads are better then one.
After numerous phone calls to dealers and parts shops with no great results .. it's time to ask the membership here ...for input .

here in lies the problem 1968 t0 1972 Big Block Chevelles .. lower hose connection
who knows what they really have ??
It appears 68 b/b was 1.75
69-70 was 1 and 9/16 .. were there changes over the four year span 68 to 72 ??? or were they all 1.75 inch I.D

so the question lies ...hose sizes lower outlet I.D for 68 -69-70-71-72 who knows what they have as ORIGINAL ????.
After market brass copper rads came with 1 and 9/16 out let back to the water pump and a rubber sleeve to adapt to the 1.75 I.D hose if you had the original 1.75 ...universal fit SLEEVE ....I do not want to do things like this .

I am looking to stock the correct O.E.M hoses for customers as a reproduction hose ... but I am not getting any help from sources ..differing info across the board ...I did find one company selling restoration hoses .. but there supplier ran dry.
so the search goes on .

thanks for your help in this endeavor in advance

I'm so confused with this as well. Sorry I can't help you with your question. But I ordered a lower hose for a 70 BB 454 and the hose is scrawny. Looks like 1 1/2 on one side and 1 9/16 on the other. Absolutely will not fit without putting the hose in the microwave for a while and using some lube. I'm pretty sure most of the aftermarket aluminums come with 1 3/4 outlet. But I have not found a hose to fit this anywhere. Why is this such an issue? Seems so simple...

I have been battling this issue for almost a year now
It seems all manufactures of hoses and suppliers caring them for 68 to 72 models have simply adopted the 1.9/16 id at the rad connection .. along with all copper brass re/pop rads building rads with this configuration .... if you actual had a 1.75 id connection and bought a pe/pop rad ... it conveniently came with a rubber sleeve to adapt to the larger hose .

I have found one manufacture that offers a 1.75 id at the rad connection .. I will soon be stocking the item to make things more convenient for customers .. one stop shopping .

I feel bad for the guys buying hoses at auto works napa and so on that don’t fit
this why I had originaly asked this question to see what folks had in the 68 to 72 big block set ups .

all small blocks with a/c were 1.9/16 lower connection

My 68 has it's original radiator (well, the tanks are), and the lower fitting is 1.75". I have a NOS GM #3937733 hose that is 1.75" at the radiator &
1.875" (1 7/8") at the water pump.
