Does anyone know FOR SURE how the factory exhaust exited on a 69 El Camino SS396? I believe it turned down behind the rear wheels, but others claim it had chevelle tips under the bumper... I've seen elkys with exhaust like this, but basically figure its incorrect... anyone have any original factory photos of what it should look like? Also, anyone on the board have an unrestored original 69 el camino? I'd like to find someone who "knows their stuff" on 69 El Caminos... I'm trying to make mine as factory correct as possible. thanks- Joe

JoeyB,
as far as I know, they all exited just behind the rear wheels. Not turned down though. Came out horizontally at an angle towards the back.

Just recently purchased a survivor '69 Elky SS 396. Exhaust exited from behind the rear wheels as explained in the previous post.
