Could someone take a picture and post it here, of an original or correct bracket setup on the transmission for a 1969 Chevelle with TH400 and factory floor shifter cable.
Is there a special external C clip that retains the cable end? The generic C-clip that I have found at the auto parts store is about .030" thick and the groove on the pin is closer to .050". The clip fits loose. Looser than I'd like to see and I've found a washer to make up the difference. But I'm thinking there must be a C-clip that is the correct thickness.
(Some people call this an E clip).
Or........should the select lever use a longer stud with a hole in it for a cotter pin?

Check out part number C3511 for a universal kit, or C402 for factory original

There is a U clip used for brake hoses that should work. As I recall the number is some variation of a letter plus the number 1457.
I see the bracket I need in the C402 kit.
It's the one that bolts onto the shift selector stud.
Anyone got one that they want to sell?

Brake line clips are way too big. I'm familiar with those. But thanks
Maybe you meant for the shift cable retainer. yeah they'll work there.
I'm talking about the cable end.
