Converting temp sending unit on '71 SS gauges.

My gauge conversion has gone smoothly overall, except for a few things. My idiot light temp unit had a plug with two wires coming out, a dark green and a dark green with a white stripe. My gauge sending unit has just a round, flat thing on the end, brass. My directions say 'Remove dark green wire from sending unit, replace connector on wire and replace with connector supplied in kit and reconnect'. I'm getting confused, as if they're saying I only had one dark green wire in the first place. If not that then I'm thinking the dk. green w/ white stripe wire becomes unused and I just use the connector on the plain dk. green wire. Also the connector doesn't fit on the temp sending unit at all, but I'm wondering if maybe I have to get a special boot to fit around it, like the idiot unit had on there, but different for connection reasons.

My other problem is that I'm trying to run, for the amp gauge, two wires supplied in the kit to the bulkhead connector. One attaches to the junction block near battery and goes to fuseblock (location D-S), and the other goes from positive screw on horn relay to location D-T.

My diagram goes like this:

S T U V W X Y Z
D
C
B
A

It says STUV is the forward lamp connector, and it is the smaller part of my fuseblock, and then the bolt/bigger part is the engine harness connector. However, my small part, and the front lamp harness, is on the right side...as if my connector reads

ZYXWVUTS
A
B
C
D

Is the diagram incorrect or did I somehow install upside down when I redid the car last year? I don't know how that could be because inside my letting is correct on the fuse panel and stuff.

Know this was a confusing mouthful, but that's all I lack from buttoning my car up. If anyone can shed some light on anything, or ask me questions so we can solve this, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

EDIT:

I didn't just completely skip the search function, but since I've posted I've looked around and (figures) I find this a few threads below, but didn't wanna crash a fellow Okie's thread!

I guess my question to the long winded part above is what colors should I remove to replace...that would probably be the easiest thing to ask. Also, replacing wires for (I'm assuming) tach. On the inside, I need to replace locations D-T and D-S (again) on the fuse block. Will the color wires I remove be the same colors I remove in the engine bay?

Thanks..
