Can it be done correctly?

I believe the metal panels are a direct fit but can one remove the locking latch and then recover with '66 upholstery?

I don't see why not, but then again, I have never had to remove any latching mechanisms...

Even with the latching mechanisms and rear button, only a small percentage of people would even know (obviously Chevelle owners), but I don't think I would notice unless the seats were folded forward, or I was getting in the back...

I have seen people recover the later seats with the 66 upholstery, and you couldn't tell...

I did see one car that used one bucket from a 66-67 Olds/Buick and one from a Chevelle, and they were different... But I think it was the foam...maybe just the upholstery job...
