I am beginning to get the parts up to build my 6" rod 383 and wondered if any one could answer this question. I am buying the scat rods but am not sure if the Q-lite rods are worth the extra $100+ dollars over the 7/16 I-Beam rods. I want the engine to rev quickly but am not sure if there is enough weight difference betwwen these rods to contribute to this. The reset of the setup is the scat forged crank and srp pistons.

The Q lite is about 560gms & is an H beam & is $449 jobber
The 7/16 capscrew is about 585-590gms & is an I beam & is $288 jobber
I have a bit better pricing on them than this but to answer your question, ,
In my opinion, for a mild street application no the lighter rod is not going to gain you any real world difference.

Thats right, its all about rod length, a 7" rod will make 50hp more then a 5" rod:D

That was what I was thinking but.....I figured better safe than to build the motor and not be happy with the outcome. I could not find a listing on the weight of the I beam but could the h beam, 30 grams is rather a small amount for the money. Thanks guys
