What do all of you think the 461 PP BBC I have will run going from 8:1 compression up to 12:1 with all else being the same?. Now remember the car was in the 11.20'[email protected], where do you think the car will pickup? low, mid or top end?

What camshaft are you running? More compression should pick up everywhere.
Ill never do a low compression build again..they ran ok but "lacked something". Currently at 11.5, wish Id gone 12.5 not like its being commuted in.
Current cam is a Comp 282S

Pretty impressive low compression 461. Piston change I'm assuming, hoping for 10's?
Thanks, I will make a cam and header change with the current compression ratio to see if I can pick up 3 tenths, not sure if it will happen but it's worth a try and yes I do have some nice Venolia 12:1 pistons to use.

Allegedly, 1% in Compression means 4% in HP. If that's the case, a 4% increase in Compression would mean a 16% increase in HP.
That said, you have to be making at least 500 HP, possibly 600 HP.
A 16% jump in HP from 500 would take you to 580 HP.
Obviously, this math isn't worth a d*mn.....b/c that's not going to happen.
But I think you'd go up 30-40 HP or maybe 40-50HP, mostly on the top end.
If gas gets expensive, you may miss 87 Octane.
