I took apart my '70 steering column to remove all rust and repaint and relubricate. I unfortunately removed the hard plastic or neoprene dowel about 3/16" dia. from the collapsable section. Where can I get another so that it will be as built originally? Thanks, Roland

I have just put aluminum pop rivets in them in the past. They will hold in place but still shear off in case of an accident.

John. insert the 3/16" pop rivet on each side and set and that's it? I know the aluminum has a low shear pressure. Please comment....

Fill the hole with silicone to prevent any rattling. Like Dean said nothing is needed to hold it in place when installed in the car.
