Continuing with my never ending exhaust leak search....

I've noticed the clutch rot boot it split all over and I can see right into the interior of the car from the engine compartment. Ok, exhaust coming in there for sure.

How hard is it to replace this boot?

Thanks,

Dave. Bear with me my memory it is foggy

I believe there is a triangular metal bracket located under your firewall insulation behind the plastic protection plate that holds that boot in place.
The clutch rod is attached at each end with wire clips.
Remove the plastic plate from the inside, peel back the insulation, remove the 3 screws, remove the clip from the clutch rod inside and Wah Lah the boot will slip thru.
Hope this solves your exhaust smell problem!!!!!

Thanks Jeff! I knew one of you'd done this before. I'll order one in this next week.

Also, instead of using the stock insulation, I'm thinking of Dynamat or something like it. Anyone use this on their firewall before?

I am sure the dynomat would work. The nice thing about the stock insulation is it has a thick rubber facing on it and has all the holes and such precut.
