Just received my polished aluminum intake. I was thinking of using some PPG concept clear to keep it from tarnishing. I figure if they do wheels it should work on an Air Gap intake. Any thoughts or experience. I have used that clear on engine blocks after a base coat with no issues.

Research it first. Brass band instruments are coated. Maybe someone in your area offers that service.

If it is polished and that is the "look" you want I dont think you will be happy with any type of clear coat in the long run. Every clearcoated intake I have seen ends up looking like crap in a few years. At least if you leave it uncoated you can touch it up with a rag and polish whenever you want.

I bought this intake over 20 years ago. I bought it slightly used from a member here on TC. It saw dyno time only, looked as new when I got it. And its never been blasted,I kept it clean with the occasional lacquer thinner wipe down. I probably put over 25K miles on it.
