I have a stock 66 396 and I'd like to get a new aluminum intake manifold. There's a lot of choices so I was hoping someone had a suggestion. I'm looking at keeping the stock height. Thoughts? Thanks!

Before you buy Edeldbrock...check out their tech help. It doesn't exist. I had some simple, but to me, important questions. Over a three week period, I waited on hold, over 30 minutes, each time, multiple times, before I gave up. Never did get to speak to anyone. Then I tried e-mail. It's been four & 1/2 weeks now...no response. They obviously have excellent marketing, but after you buy, they won't even talk to you. As to the performance of their products...I'm not convinced they are any better than their competetion. I prefer to buy from people that appreciate my business. Next time I'll go with a Weiand or Holly product. I get irritated every time I look under the hood. If anyone wants a small block performer, I'll sell it for 50 cents on the dollar on what I paid for it through Summit. It's in mint condition, I've just got an attitude when it comes to Edelbrock products.

I have to agree with doug about performer rpm.
The last Weiand product I got was a bbc long waterpump. I put it on and when I tried to line up the alt. bracket the bolt holes were over an inch off. Took it back to jegs to exchange it, the next one was the exact same way! So I got an Edelbrock wp instead.

My vote would be for a stock GM (old) aluminum intake....what it cost today its worth tomorrow. Aftermarket 200.00 today 50.00 tomorrow. I cant speak for the 396 Edelbrock but I can speak for the intakes they make for the GM crate motors. It's as if they turned off the lights in the shop and drilled the vacuum and front upper alternator bracket bolt holes.....why? They have no idea, you stand a better chance of getting an correct answer from someone working in the lawn and garden section at Walmart. This includes anyone working for GM as well, as they seem to exhibit the deer in the headlights reaction when ask why.
