Whatever it is I'm going to hate it because it won't look like my favorite year

Don't worry...they'll screw it up big-time like they did with the Wimpala, and the Malibu.

The problems, as I see them, is 1.)they want to build an FR-S/BRZ competitor from the parts bin. This was already done with the Sky and Solstice - difference being those were roadsters and didnt have a back seat. If youve even been in a FR-S - you'll quickly realize the back seat is for show.

Chevelle purist will hate using the namesake for a car of that size. Im not a purist by any means but the Chevelle was a hulking hunk of mass - not a tiny tin can. So Chevy will fail simply by using the wrong name.

And 2.) Other than looks there wont be much difference drive train wise between a new appropriately sized Chevelle and the Camaro. This has a lot of cost implications that GM should consider strongly before releasing such an animal. One of those things would have to be put to rest for the other to succeed as GM couldnt afford to have both sitting on their lots forever.

The real good option at this point in the game would be for GM to release a limited edition high priced limited run Chevelle body kitted Camaro with tons of go power.

Maybe they could let Pontiac have a Tempest/GTO, and Oldsmobile could have a Cutlass/442 again.

Oh, wait.

Well, Buick could sell Skylarks...

I'm 6' tall and I fit in the back of my friends FR-S, I wasn't comfortable at all but it will do for a short drive. I'd never get a 2 seater, having tiny rear seats is way better than nothing. Great little car, I'd love GM to make a competitor but please don't call it Chevelle. Nova maybe?

Yes, its been posted and trashed several times on this board already. Now I am sure if they stuck a Toyota name plate on it, most of the guys on this board would love the thing.
I am not sure if its an old guy thing where they have nothing better to do other than reminisce how great they were in their selected sport and complain about how things don’t compare to the old days… maybe excess time but how quickly some forget about the Camaro, the Corvette or the LS motors in general.

Im 5'10" and if the driver wants to sit comfortably and still be able to operate the clutch - I couldnt sit behind him with my feet on the seat and my knees in my chest. No way.

My point is it's not the same as a 2 seater. I'd never buy a two seater, but a car with a tiny backseat that could fit some items, small kids, or take adults for a very uncomfortable short trip down the road, sure I'd buy that. I think making a real 2 seater car seriously limits who will buy it.

By todays standards, yeah. However, if you compare the Chevelles of old to the Impalas, Biscaynes, Chargers, Galaxies, and what have you they really are a regular mid size car.

If it's based on the Camaro, I think they should call it a Nova. I'm thinking the new Impala and Caprice are smaller than a Chevelle anyways, can they even make anything in a between size? The way I remember it, the Chevelle was a small family/ people who don't want something as huge as an Impala or something as sporty as a Camaro car. Anyone buying that sort of thing now just gets an Impala and if they want something bigger, a Tahoe or Suburban.

If they build a Chevelle SS equivalent it will end up like the GTO, or competing with the Camaro in sales.

opinions, meh.

I couldn't agree more and I'm not so sure that opinion is limited to gearhead type's only.
About a month ago there was an article in the sunday star ledger newspaper about a recall involving about 400 thousand toyota's The article was buried about 16 pages into the paper near the bottom of the page in about a 3 X 7 inch box with a small headline with larger letters. Now there is no doubt in my mind if that it was a GM or Ford involved recall it would have been front page news for sure.Bad news is good for paper sales.
