So I get a call a week ago a guy see's one of my ads, wants to know if Im interested in his 72 chevelle, 3K. 454 motor, doesn't understand neutral saftey switch, or wiring, tells me it started but dies, unhooked a kill switch under the dash and now it wont even click. I find his number on caller id so I call him back turns out he's about 2 minutes from my job site.
I really don't have the money or use for another car, but told him I'd stop by and do some basic trouble shooting on it and try to get it running for him, just for fun, he tells me his friends don't work on cars and the ones that do charges$$$ to help out.
If it turns out to be worth while I'll post a description in the classifieds and get anyone interested a phone number, Jim

went and looked at the car tonight. not too bad he didn't know which wires go to the starter, someone rigged a starter switch to bypass the ignition switch, centerlines 454 turbo 400, ladder bars, body decent.
going to go over tommorrow after he hooks the starter wires per instructions and install a new ign switch, hopefully it'll turn over,
Then hot wire the coil and see if it'll run. he wants to swap out the dated mallory dual point dist. to a HEI and get rid of the multitudes of wires that was installed, swap out the late modle q jet and see if we can get it to run. He says for my troubles he would give me the centerlines on the car. He says even if he keeps the car he wants to go with bigger rims. 20s (ugh). so the he could care less about the centerlines.
I may even see if hes interested in a 72 el camino for a trade, at least the elky is drivable,
I'll keep this posted. BTW he told me he'd take 2500 for the thing as it sits, I think he's sick of seeing the thing dead in the yard.

I wouldn't even let him rethink it. Sounds like some good parts. I'm guessing in your parts, it's a decent car? So for the rest of us, it's better than 90% of the stuff you find locally, as far as rust goes? I'd be all over it.

Jim: How is the body? I would be interested in it , or I would also be interested in your EC as mine is pretty rusty. I got to talk to you about this stuff as I always need another project to ignore in the back yard.
