What 10 bolt rearend came in the 68-72 CHevelles and Monte Carlo? Did they come with 8.2 or 8.5? How can you tell the differnce by looking at them?

8.2s were used until late 72. They are not common or easy to find. The 8.5s have small squared off castings at the bottom on either side of the cover. Try a search on 8.5 for more info.

The 8.2 usually has a large upside down V on the cover. It has a 1 1/8 inch pinion nut, 3/8 ring gear bolts with 9/16 heads and right hand threads. The 8.5 has a smooth cover with a 1 1/4 pinion nut, 7/16 ring gear bolts with 3/4 heads and left hand threads.
