Sorry, I also posted in the welcome section but I was unsure if anyone reads those.
Hello everyone, I am looking for information about an engine that I purchased that was attached to a custom 1971 boat. I think I know what I have but, I want to double check to make sure the hole in the water was worth my time.
The engine block has 3963512 cast into it also GM/1/conv1 and what looks to be 1 10 9 cast on the other side.
The heads have 3964291 cast into them with GM5T, L 6 9 and HI-PERF cast also.
The engine only has about 200 hours on it and under the valve covers looks new.
It has an Edelbrock intake and Holley carb.
I was told the intake and carb were stolen and replaced with the aftermarket ones.
Any help confirming the identity and a possible value would be appreciated.
Thanks
Keith

It could be just about anything by now.
The block was used for 427's and 454's but could have been modified or bored and stroked to ???
3963512 427/454 69-71 335-450HP 2 & 4-Bolt COPO
1 10 9 would be just that -Jan 10,1969 so this one would have started as a 427.
3964291 396/402/427/454 69-70 2.19/1.88 108cc L-78/L-71/L-72/LS-6 Rectangular port 325cc intake
L 6 9 would be Dec 6,1969 so these don't match the block as there 11 months apart.
Unless you've mis-read the 1 10 9 on the block -make sure it's not an L.
If you want to know what the block was born as ,get the 'engine id number' as shown ,top right in pic

Does anyone have an idea of a value? I will probably be selling it as soon as I can find out how much it may be worth. I am sure it is worth something to the right person. It does start and run strong. I may be bringing it to the Autofair in Charlotte next week
Thanks

Like I said earlier ,go back and recheck the block casting date.
You posted a 1 10 9 (Jan 69) with heads from L 6 9(Dec 69) which makes it worth less than an original.
I think you mis-read the 1 so check it again.
While your at it ,post the partial VIN.

Would the VIN be in the same spot as the ID Number? If that is the case, no VIN is present. Again, this is in a custom boat that the build was started in 1970. I was told it was purchased prior to it being installed in a vehicle. Not sure if that was possible and I have no way of knowing.
I will check the casting again this evening.
Thanks

Oh, fresh water only. I checked the hour meter it says 224 hours and was working when I parked the boat.
I also checked the block numbers again. It could be 1 or probably an I. If it were an L, i wold be missing something.

Might be to your benefit.
BTW ,did you recheck the block casting date?
I keep asking because if it's actually an L ,your engines worth more.
Take another look see up by the engine id and make sure there's no partial VIN there.
Sometimes there stamped thinner than the Tonawanda code and hard to see.
