I want to put a 350 in to replace the old P.G.
Have never done a trans swap, so here goes!
Specific questions:
1. Can I use the same trans crossmember and mount?
2. Will I have to change length of driveshaft?
3. What is the most preferred way to change linkage , but keep original steering column?
Thanks to all you veterans for your help!!!

3 need to know what year car you have, but usually most of it will work, may need just the rod from the frame pivot to the trans.

did this swap in my '65 years ago. had to do some fab work on the linkage, but i think lokar or some others make linkage for that now. otherwise it was a straight swap.

I'm going to do this on my '69 Malibu. The PG is out and TH350 ready to go in but will have to wait til the car comes out of winter storage in late March. I've noticed the following differences: The trans cooler line connects on the 350 are in a slightly different location than the PG. I've heard on TC that with some bending the PG lines will fit. Also the vacuum modulator is in a different location. Looks like with some vacuum hose and a cut, it can be made to work as well. Looks like linkage will work but not positive about that yet. Of course the column shift indicator will be missing the "2" til I can find a TH one.

oh yeah, my old brain forgot about those issues. did have to tweak the lines and also change the hose to the vac. mod on the trans. column shifter is strange since there is not enough detents. it falls kinda in between gears so you have to know where the gears are. other people had a hard time driving my car. it would be in R when they thought they were in N etc. kinda scary. there was no th350 column available for '65 so i just lived with it. got a tko600 now. problem solved.

Though I'm not a mechanic, when I bought my '68 this had been done with a column shift. Evidently they had re-used the PG linkages; couldnt shift manually down to low gear, and everything was one gear "off".

I was doing a bench to bucket conversion, with stock console. Got the proper linkage with the console (it was 3 speed console), and still had to fab up the final plate to the transmission to make up for something that wasn't exactly right.

It works great now, tho; except it leaks, like the engine.
