I'm looking for a good CD player with an outlet for a Mp3 or Ipod. I would like it to look as vintage as possible without all the neons, but I know that's a long shot. I can't use the kind of link that plugs into the cigerette lighter, because I don't have one. Thanks for any help. Zach.

A company called RIO that makes MP3 players also has a way to play teh MP3 through the stereo. It plugs into the tape deck. It is shaped like a tape and plus into the player. I never used it, but I have seen it.

If you want to get a little more high tech then just plugging into aux inputs/tape adapter/fm modulator then there are a couple companies that make units that plug into the dock connector on your ipod (compatible with any of the ipods that have dock connectors I think - 4th gen, mini, nano, video, photo) and then plugs into the cd changer port on the back of your car deck. This obviously only works if you have a deck with a cd changer port, but pretty much ever aftermarket deck sold these days has one, and it also can be used on most factory stereos, as a cd changer has been an option for quite some time now. Not only does this unit give a true audio connection (perfectly clear, unlike say an fm modulator), but it also charges the ipod, displays the song information stored on the ID tag of the music file, and, best of all, allows you to control the ipod through the controls on the car deck. This means you can tuck the ipod away in the glove box or something and power up/down and control the ipod with the deck. Obviously different decks have different levels of compatibility with these various features, but the Dension website has a compatibility menu to see what functions your factory or aftermarket deck will support. If you have not bought a deck yet, you can also buy ipod compatible ones, that, by the name, suggest that they are fully compatible with all the features of the ipod, but I have not really looked into those too much. Anyways, check out the website, it is a pretty cool feature, but for now I just stick with aux inputs on the back of my deck.

unit is call ice>link plus, here is the website:

I have Mp3 (CD) players in my toy cars, but I'd love to be able to plug my IPod directly into my truck and of course they don't have a setup for Dodge. I'm using one of those battery powered transmitterd that plays through the radio, except that all the stations it plays on have a clear signal, plus I always forget to turn it off and the battery goes dead. As for those tape things, they've been making them since the days of the first Walkman CD players, the audio quality was never the greatest. I wonder if I can just plug right into the CD changer input with a stereo RCA to headphone plug and have the radio recognize the Ipod....

You can get adapters that plug into your cd changer port and turn it to two RCA plugs, but it wouldn't be able to control the ipod (the ipod is controlled through the dock connector). I don't know of anyplace in particular that would sell these adapters, but I know they exist. If you wanted to try something new you could also try and wire up the connector yourself. As long as you can find the proper connector for the cd changer (I think it is called a PIE connector, but not sure), and a schemetic for the stereo, then I think you could do it...

Look to the right on that page and you will see "Dodge"

Theres a ton out there offered by aftermarket vendors, not a ton offered at the ipod / apple stores though.

I have the one linked above, works mint, one of the best things I have done to my 05 Sierra.

Does your '05 sierra have the 6 disc changer built in to the head unit?
I'm looking for one for my '04 Tahoe, but figure my radio wouldnt have a CD changer plug on the back since it is built into the unit!?
