Hey All,
I have some local cats using my flower beds as a cat box.:( It started when we had mulch around the bushes last fall. We took that all out and went to lava rock hoping that would help. The cats continue to visit on a regular basis. Any Ideas how to get them to "go" somewhere else???:confused: (no shooting allowed in the subdivision)
Thanks for your help,

Marc

cut up a hot dog and soak it in anti-freeze and put out in an old butter dish.

And for the cat lovers... You brought this on yourselves by not taking care of what you claim to "love" so much!

They sell fox urine at the pet supply stores. My wife used it and they went away. Cut pieces of 1/2" copper pipe about 5" long. Insert a new tampax in each tube, space them out in the beds and pour the fox pee-pee on them. Good luck

There are so many cats in my sons neighborhood you can't hardly stand to sit outside or inside with the windows open in the evening because of the smell in the air! Everyone must turn the cat out at night! The city says they cannot control it because it would require overtime for the animal control people to try to catch them. So much for tax dollars paid!!!

Try human hair / dog fur it worked for me in the garden. Free at most barber shops.

The way I see it there are two ways to handle it. If you are not going to feel bad afterwards feed them some tuna fish/anti freeze combo. One meal and you won't see that particular cat any more. If you have a conscience you could live trap them and then take them to the animal shelter. If these are ferral cats they will keep breeding and continue to multiply, so eliminating them is a good idea. If this is someones pet and they are thoughtless enough to let their cat run wild then they deserve to have their cat removed.

I have the same problem. SOB cat roams the neighborhood and dumps and urinates on every lawn and flower bed but its own. I'm ready to trap it and drive it 50 miles into the Sierra Nevada mountains. The cat owner doesn't seem to care about the cat, so I'll take matters into my own hands :D.

I'll have to look into that fox urine. Maybe just get a fox as a pet :p

I always forget to bring in the anti-freeze drain pan for a day or two. Thats my anti-cat plan. We have a horrible cat problem in my neighborhood too and its all because of the (insert explative here) that lives two houses down. Both of my Chevelles have to sleep outside because the garage has become the official "laundry and throw the crap you will never use again in here" room.
The jerk down there has, without exaggeration, 15-20 cats, and they all live outside. They love my car covers, and so do their claws.

If I were you I would get "rid" of them once. Anti-freeze, or a high powered BB gun will keep them away for good.

If you can stand the smell, use moth balls. The wife spread them all around her flowers and no more cats!

A friend had a cat problem and the people wouldn't keep their cats home so he bought a live trap. As he caught them he took the cats for a very long drive and dumped them out. Pretty soon the cat problem wasn't. Cat owners would probably be horrified if they realized how many little birds and the like that their cats kill. When I was a kid on the farm I saw cats drag in rats and cotton tail rabbits almost as big as themselves. They don't purr all the time.

it was still a problem just someone else's. when I lived in the country lowlife people would dump their unwanted pets along the road. these starving animals would wander up to my place. I usually had no choice but to put them out of their misery. take them to an animal shelter or shoot them but don't dump them. If you ever seen an animal starve to death it will never leave you.

Use the live trap and take the cat to your neighbors untill you find who's it is. Then very politely tell them this will be their free pass and if there cat comes up missing after that, tell them it will be at the pound. Let them take care of their own problems.

I sorry.......... no F-N way ..... if I spend the money for a live trap the owner is going to spend 50 bucks for gas trying to figure out which shelter has his little pride & joy !!!

if you play the goodie two shoe's an return the cat after catching it ...... next time it turns up missing the owners going to figure you did it !! ..... Screw that !!!

my way IF ... IF they manage to locate their cat MAYBE they're be more careful !! if not . NO BIG LOSS !!!

I do the same with 5-10 year old kids that parents let roam free and play in the street making all kinds of racket, hitting cars with balls, tossing trash everywhere and not concerned about the intersection and those that run the stop signs daily. I put out those yogurts in a tube and free drinks laces with Visine. Lots of youngins runnin back home with poop running down their leg.

Now for the kid lovers.....you brought this on yourselves by not taking care of what you claim to "love" so much. I'll make your kid poop, your cat die and i'll glue your dogs pecker to his leg (you aint lived till you seen a dog try to pee and keeps shooting himself in the side of the head) . :D
