OK, I'm getting confused on this. According to this link, http://chevelles.com/aces/vol1/aces_12a.htm,
which I was refered to from here, the correct list # for a 66, 396/325 Holley, A/T car is 3268, with a part # 3883962. I got an e-mail (several in fact!!!) answering an ad in the wanted section for this list# carb. I was sent an excerpt from a 66 chasis manual showing list 3140 as the correct carb. The Holley link doesn't even show that #, Colvins "Hev By The Numbers 65-69" show that for a 65 396/325. I really want to get a rebuildable carb that is right, with an early date code for my 66. Can anyone PLEASE shed a little more light on this for me ???
If you by chance have a carb that is correct and are willing to part with it for a reasonable sum, please let me know also. I REALLY appreciate anyone taking the time to answer this, I enjoy reading through all the postings here, and have benefited greatly from several in the past!!

The previous post didn't offer much insite, so I will take a stab at it,
This is from the Chevrolet SS Muscle Car red Book.
396/325hp-7016621
396/325hp-3874898(Holley R-3139-1AAS),engine ED
396/325hp-w/Powerglide-3868864(Holley R-3140-1AAS),engine EK
396/325hp-w/Powerglide-7016620
396/325hp-w/AIR-7036201
396/325hp-w/AIR & Powerglide-7036200
As you see the 3140 is a good number for the 396/325, If you want to buy one, Call Chicago Corvettes, 708-458-2500 they will have the carb you want with any date code you want, I got this number from the people from Holley.
I also have a 66SS and they have the 3139 for my car! Good Luck

Here's what my GM P&A book from 71 says for 66-396 Chevelles:

List R-3140A (3868864) for 66 Chevelle w/P.G. (396) (exc A.I.R., H/Per) - probably the 325hp version

List R-3608A (3892338) for 66 Chevelle (A.I.R., w/P.G.) w/H/Per (396) - probably the 360hp version

List R-3613A (3893229) for 66 Chevelle w/Sp. H/Per (396) - probably the 375hp version.

These are what the part counterman (of which I was one) would find in the parts book in late 71/early 72. Also, my P&A book doesn't even show the 3268 (3883962) - this might have been a replacement carb?

Check http://www.dalesplace.com/htm/information/information.htm and click the Holley link for all numbers straight from the P&A book.
