Took the fuel bowl off of my 750 Holley today to clean out the crap from the needle and to swap the power valve.

While cleaning it I decided to take out the fuel filter from the carb inlet. Much to my suprise it had alot of gritty stuff on it. Not sure if it's dirt or the filter itself.

That's probably what caused my carb to flood up so bad there was fuel shooting from the carb vent tube.

The fuel filter in question here looks like a bunch of little brass balls all clustered together. I do have an inline filter after the pump and before the carb. Should I leave the factory copper filter in place or ditch it?

I know it sounds like a silly question....but on another Holley I had it had a screen style filter in it. I had a guy tell me they were junk and as lon g as I had an inline filter elsewhere I was good to go....just wanted to hear it from the pros.

BTW here's the filter I am talking about: http://www.holley.com/162-500.asp

I believe it is sintered bronze.

I have always taken them out and used the inline filter.

Thanx, I went ahead and removed the two filters but I am going to hang onto them just in case.

a good inline filter not a dime store one
Well the one I have costs $26 new thru Summit, it's one of the billet ones that's set up to accept 6 AN fittings.
