Thanks to some low life that stole my car trailer yesterday and tore my fence down in the process, I'm now in the market for a new car trailer. Looking for a QUALITY 18' open hauler w/dovetail.

My old trailer was a 1999 Norris that was extremely heavy duty (2000 lbs. empty) and pulled VERY nice. I did a quick internet search and couldn't really find anything. Not sure they are still around.

Anyone have any recommendations on brands and or local dealers that you have had good or bad luck with?

Thanks,

Hey DragRacer,

They are cheaper by alot just North of the border in OK. There are several trailer stores just South of OKC on I35 and I44.

Sorry Dude, that sucks!

Thanks for the leads guys. I'll start doing some shopping around. Probably wait until after the holidays to do something. Got a little one coming next month so money is going to be tight. It sucks having to shell out a chunk of change for something that you have already paid for once.

Looks like I will probably get screwed by insurance. I used to carry a separate theft policy on the trailer, but I changed carriers when I got married a couple years ago and they talked me into just letting homeowners take care of it. With a $500 deductable I don't stand to get much back. :(

Who would think that you should have any problem with a trailer LOCKED in your own yard behind a fence. I guess I better bury some concrete anchors and chain the next one down.

If anyone sees a trailer with tag no. 81W KYC running around let me know. I've got a few bullets with the scumbags name on it.

Got some fence building to do this weekend to boot.

Sorry to hear about the trailer Jason. You have seen my trailer. I bought it in Lewisville at 121/35 on the east side service road. Do not remember the name. Goood luck on buying your new one....

I bought a used Anderson Carhauler last year, and I absolutely love it. Tows geat, loads easy (the dovetail is angled perfect), has removeable fender on the left side, etc. I have the 18' model, #CF718 on the attched link.

Jason, if you're in the Dallas area, give Lewis Irvine at Trackmaster trailers a call. He's over here in Garland, right off Plano Rd.

He builds them himself and built my enclosed trailer. His stuff is REALLY built well. All square tubing. NO angle iron or channel iron anywhere.

I've pulled my 26" enclosed for 12 years and it has never had any problems with cracking or bowing. Plus, you can have anything added or left off. The choice and design is up to you.

Granted, it wasn't the cheapest enclosed trailer around BUT I have some really nice options on it and the workmanship is outstanding.

He builds fine open trailers also. Any options you want.

Last spring I gave $2,250 for an 18 foot dovetail, metal deck with slide in ramps. I bought it in Hallsville. The same trailer was going for $2,900 at Pate. Tows good behind ext cab Z71 with chevelle on it. If you're interested shoot me an email.
