Well i got my 66 chevelle yesterday and took it out for a test drive and have a few questions. When the clutch engages it shakes a bit (and not from poor driving) back and forward. It doesnt happen every time but id say 1 out of 4 times. Also another thing is while im in neutral and i let off the clutch i can hear a strange noise I dont know quite how to describe it.

One last thing, i know this isnt perfomance but underneath the chrome lining around the outside of the car it looks as if the previous owner did a very sketchy job of repairing. This is what it looks like:

Thats not how its supposed to look right? Also what about this, its the upper left hand part of the window/car of the driver's side.

Sounds to me like the clutch isn't adjusted properly (not fully disengaging). That sound you hear when it's out of gear is the throwout bearing. Adjust the clutch linkage so that the clutch engages about 1/3 of the way off the floor relative to full pedal travel. This should be a good starting point. If that doesn't solve it you will prolly need to pull the tranny and check to make sure that you have the right throwout bearing, that the bearing isn't worn out, that the bearing is correctly inserted into the clutch fork, etc... The shaking you describe sounds like clutch chatter. How old is the clutch/pressure plate? Coiuld be that the clutch disc is worn out, the pressure plate needs resurfacing (has cracks from excessive heat) or both. Can't help you on the pictures :)
