The Citrus Green LS5 car we did was Oshawa built and sold locally. It was black underneath and is still owned by the original owner. AND be careful with paint on the grill. Oshawa cars did not paint the center horizontal line with body colour; they did just the outer vertical edges.

Thanks for the reply,
So you're saying it was all black underneath before you started the restoration, Correct? Thanks for the heads up on the grill, I do remember reading that and seeing pictures, but wow, thats the only one thing I don't know if I can keep original.

Yes it was all black. May have had some overspray on the frame rails but after 30 years +, it was hard to tell.

I was able to locate 2, cut sections of the floor from when I replaced it last month and noticed it having heavy color overspray, Cranberry red car, close to the outside and fade towards the middle but then there is red paint I can scratch off with my nail on top of the black. I am not referring to the heavy black paint and Bondo areas, just where the red is and you can see the black speckle areas. My guess is that the floor underneath was all painted black, when to firewall got painted.

I'd like clarification here. I was told that Canaian Chevelles and Beaus are more to restore as they used body color on the firewalls and underneath. This from two different restorers. So what years , and what models did?

Where the heck is Cam?

Ok, after dissecting this car this is what I came up with. This is a 1970 built in April. The plant used medium gray primer, on the whole car, next, the firewall and cowl sections with 1/2 of the front floor pan are panted semi gloss black, the cowl sides and firewall got black seam sealed, then the car got its color coat on top of that. the red is on top of the black on the cowl saddle bags. the pics were taken with the car upside down on a rotisserie now. Someone in the 90s redid this car in yellow that is the light gray primer and yellow you see on the cowl sides
