I purchased a set of rusty, crusty 4-speed brake & clutch pedals with the support bracket some time ago on Ebay. They will be used in my '71 Pro Touring car, and the support brace fits into the car perfectly. Included was THIS SWITCH and it is not operational. Does it look like one from a '69 Chevelle 4-speed? Or another GM A-body? A marking of "485" is stamped into the steel part, and "Delco Remy" on the black plastic part. Thanks for your help!

What yr car did the petals come from? not a expert on 4 speeds, the switch could be for the backup lamps.
I'm unsure of the year or model (due to an ebay auction and vague item description) , but have confirmed that the pedals & support bracket do fit into my '71 Chevelle. The switch is definately a clutch safety switch as it was bolted to the support bracket, and the swing arm was pivoting off the clutch pedal.

PHYSICIAN HEAL THYSELF !!! Well, since this switch bombed during testing with a multi-meter and again with a test light, I decided to take it apart. Turns out it's nothing more than two pair of spring-loaded brass contacts which needed to be cleaned. Gave the contacts a bit of scrubbing with some emery cloth, re-assembed and the unit works perfectly now. Way cool!
